Daniel Joseph Fancher Sr. "Papa Fancher," 62, of Stevensville, died peacefully at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at home with his family by his side, after fighting a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Fancher was born Jan. 29, 1948, in Alpena, Mich., and was a lifelong area resident. He was a dedicated worker for 41 years at Blossomland Container. He enjoyed watching softball and baseball and providing for his family. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Haskins) Fancher, whom he married on Jan. 5, 1966, in Bridgman. Also surviving are sons, Daniel Fancher Jr. and Tim (Julia) Fancher; a daughter, Pam (Scott) Allerton; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Jeannie of Berrien Springs. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Danielle and Diane; one brother; and one sister.
