Herbert “Herbie” L. Lietz, 67, of Sawyer, passed away Friday morning, June 18, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph, after a short illness. He retired from Shepherd Casting Corp. in 2004. Survivors are three brothers, George (Phyllis) of Hastings, Dean (Linda) of Niles, and Ralph of Grand Rapids. Herbie was a lifelong resident of S.W. Michigan, a good husband and an active member at Berrien County Baptist Church. He loved the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Penley in 1999; father, Herbert, in 1998; and mother, Adeline, in 2003. A memorial service will be Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11:00am, at Berrien County Baptist Church, Stevensville, with family & friends visiting one hour before services. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Baptist Church, Stevensville, MI. Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, is handling arrangements for the family.
