Algamae LaVerne Wilson, 80, of Benton Harbor died at 3:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Second Baptist Church, Benton Harbor, with the Rev. Kenneth M. Gavin officiating. Burial will be in Spring Run Cemetery, Royalton Township. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mrs. Wilson was born May 30, 1929, in Benton Harbor. She had lived in Chicago and had been employed as a hospital clerk. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Benton Harbor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Wilson; her parents, Herman and Katherine Howard; and a sister, Vestina Ruth Fucher. Survivors include two sons, Paul Eugene Short and the Rev. James Howard Short; stepdaughter, Francis Cromwell Bates; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Cleophus Lett (Veda) Howard and Charles Eugene (Frankie) Howard; and two sisters, Jacqueline Ann (Carlos) Wood and Kathleen Kay (Charles) Hawkins.
