Cory Rand Simmons, 26, of Dowagiac died in the early morning of Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Benton Township, taken too soon in a tragic auto accident. He was born Feb. 6, 1984 in South Bend. He was a factory laborer and lifetime area resident. Cory was a loving son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend to all who knew him. Cory was taken while doing the thing he love most — driving his red Mustang. He loved cars and was mechanically inclined. Cory was active in Cub Scouts, basketball and the Cass County 4-H fair. He was full of love and shared that with hugs for everyone. Cory is survived by his parents, Debra (Bonne) Simmons, of Dowagiac and Randy Simmons, of Niles; sister, Jessica Marie Simmons, of Dowagiac; maternal grandparents, Alidor and Betty Bonne, of Niles; and paternal grandmother, Peggy Cain, of Niles. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 East Front St., Buchanan with Pastor Allan Poage officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cory Simmons Fund at any 5/3 bank. “Memories let them fill your mind, warm your heart, and lead you through.”
